As an E-Commerce Accounting Intern at Flip, you will embark on an exciting career path in finance, primarily focusing on e-commerce financial operations. This role will provide you with hands-on experience in managing financial transactions, maintaining records, and contributing to the financial success of our e-commerce business. You will work closely with the finance team to support various accounting functions. Responsibilities

• Financial Transactions:
• Assist in recording and reconciling daily e-commerce sales transactions
• Learn to manage refunds, chargebacks, and returns while ensuring accurate accounting treatment
  

Record Keeping:

• Help maintain organized and up-to-date financial records for the e-commerce division
• Support inventory management by updating records and assisting with periodic audits
  

Expense Tracking:

• Assist in reviewing and processing e-commerce-related expenses, such as sales, marketing, shipping, and fulfillment costs
• Learn to monitor discretionary spending and contribute to cost control efforts
  

Tax Compliance:

• Prepare sales tax reports in excel
• Gain exposure to the preparation and filing of sales tax returns and related documentation
  

Reconciliation:

• Work with guidance to reconcile bank accounts, payment processor statements, and other financial accounts, including inventory reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts
• Help investigate and resolve discrepancies and variances
  

Audit Support:

• Assist with internal and external audits related to e-commerce transactions and financial records
• Provide documentation and explanations as needed
  

Systems and Tools:

• Utilize accounting software (Quickbooks Online, Bill.com, and 3rd-party payment processors) and e-commerce platforms to streamline financial processes
• Stay curious about software and industry developments to enhance your skills
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with different departments to support financial data collection and analysis for the e-commerce division
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (entry-level candidates are welcome)
• At least 1 year of experience in the accounting field.
• Strong desire to pursue a career in accounting or finance
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and concepts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency in Quickbooks Online and Bill.com preferred, but not required
• Proficiency in Brex and 3rd-party payment processor preferred, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and willingness to learn
• Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced e-commerce environment
