Background

Immunai was founded in December 2018. We are a multidisciplinary team of immunologists, genomics technologists, computer scientists, engineers, mathematicians and operators singularly focused on solving an audacious challenge. Backed by some of the leading scientific minds in immunology, oncology, and single cell genomics, we are up for the challenge.

Immunai has begun the process of mapping millions of immune cells and their functions in order to build a proprietary data set for clinical immunological data. The immune system mapping will play an important role in boosting R&D efforts in developing targeted therapies for different diseases. The company noted that the immune system consists of trillions of cells that are divided into different cell types that perform different functions. Because of the complexity of the system, it can be difficult to determine how drugs will interact with the immune cells. This increased understanding can be used to boost clinical response to different cellular therapies.

Immunai’s mission is to map the immune system with neural networks and transfer learning techniques informed by deep immunology knowledge. We developed the tools and knowhow to help every immuno-oncology and cell therapy researcher excel at their job. This helps increase the speed in which drugs are developed and brought to market by elucidating their mechanisms of action and resistance.

Responsibilities

This position offers an opportunity to work in a highly-collaborative environment with world-leading scientists developing and applying state-of-the art profiling technologies to a diverse set of projects at the intersection of the immune system and disease. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced team and will interface closely with a multidisciplinary team of immunology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics scientists. Specifically, they will contribute to the Molecular Profiling team performing advanced flow cytometry, spatial and molecular analyses on a diverse set of clinical and experimental samples. The successful candidate will be an excellent team player, agile in thought, energetic, and willing to learn new methods and skills.

  • Provide support to augment efforts of teams using a wide range of techniques including, but not limited to flow cytometry, immune cell isolation and processing from human specimens, cell cultures and in vitro model systems, single cell genomics methods, and NGS library preparation
  • Operation, calibration and maintenance of flow cytometers, cell sorters and related equipment and associated computational hardware
  • Cytometry data acquisition, analysis, and documentation of results.
  • Maintain a complete, accurate, and timely electronic record of all experiments using an informatics management system.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional team meetings and communicate effectively with other members of the lab, computational biology, and software team
  • Deliver impactful presentations to other colleagues including senior leadership

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in Immunology or Immunology-related field; MS with 2-4 years relevant experience, or recent PhD graduate
  • Expertise in acquiring and analyzing multiparametric flow cytometry, ideally using the Cytek Aurora
  • Direct experience with cell sorting, ideally using the BD FACSAria II/FACSAria Fusion and/or Beckman CytoFLEX
  • Experience with protocols for sample and library preparation for single cell multiomics and familiarity with NGS processes
  • Experience working with tissue samples, including single cell dissociation.
  • Experience with sectioning, staining (immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, in situ hybridization), imaging and basic image analysis is a distinct advantage
  • Experience with the CODEX/Akoya PhenoCycler system would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with high throughput lab data management

Desired Personal traits

  • You want to make an impact on humankind
  • You prioritize “We” over “I”
  • You enjoy getting things done - with super high quality
  • You collaborate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • You have superior skills and experience, and constantly strive to be world-class in what you do
  • You constantly challenge your own assumptions, pushing for continuous improvement
  • You have a growth mindset
